Get a FREE tree planted in your swale through the
City of Miami
Miami Pollinators is launching our initiative, SCRAP — the Street Canopy Restoration and Aesthetic Program, to spread the word about how Miami homeowners can help grow our canopy and beautify our streets.
The city of Miami has a free tree planting initiative. As part of this effort, eligible City of Miami homeowners can request a native tree to be planted in the swale (right-of-way) in front of their homes at no cost. We’re volunteering as a liaison to spread the word, collect interest and help facilitate coordination with the City. Trees range from 10 to 16 feet tall, offering immediate visual appeal to your home/street and long-term benefits to Miami’s urban canopy. You can indicate your preferred tree species below; final selection will be based on site conditions assessed by the City. Once you submit the form we will send you more details on the next steps to give your home a new beautiful tree.

Tree Benefits
There are so many benefits to greener urban spaces. Here are some of our favorites:
-
Greener Spaces
By helping establish trees and plants in neighborhoods, we can help create greener, prettier, and more enjoyable shared spaces for the benefit of everyone.
-
Cooler Places
Did you know having a canopy of well-established trees can cool a neighborhood by X degrees? That means bearable summer walks, cooler parked cars on the street, and cheaper cooling bills for homes!
-
Pretty Pollinators
Animals like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds all need plants to feed and survive. They also help to spread pollen between plants while they feed, which means more plants, fruits, and seeds for all of us.
-
Healthier You
Being surrounded by greenery is also good for your health! Exposure to nature helps reduce stress and anxiety, while having green spaces filled with fruit-bearing trees or edible plants can help people make affordable, healthier food choices.
